The State of Nevada has now made history while granting the license as this is the first state in the United States to allow interstate gambling. The five member team of Nevada Gaming Commission announced that they would grant interstate poker licenses and as per their word, they began issuing licenses in the month of June. As per the news available on 6th of September, Bally Technologies Inc that is based in Las Vegas, Shuffle Master Inc and Global Cash Access Holdings Inc, have been granted licenses to begin operations.

Meanwhile, a marketing company that is based in Las Vegas, PokerTrip Enterprises Inc. has been granted approval by the State Gaming Control Board to participate in interstate poker ventures. This is surprising considering PokerTrip Enterprises Inc is not a poker services provider. The company is a unique venture that has tie ups with various online poker companies and markets these companies to online poker players. The company is now waiting for the approval of the Nevada Gaming Commission before beginning its operations in full swing.

Chief Executive officer of PokerTrip Enterprises Inc., Jon Friedberg, said that this company was one of its kind and the services offered cannot be availed by any other company. This company has tie ups with online poker rooms. He termed the company as a ‘Tripadvisor’ of the online poker world. What the company does is that it provides online poker players with valuable input about the poker rooms to choose and the other details that online poker players would be looking for. It generates traffic for its associates and gets paid according to the contracts it has with the poker service providers.
Licensing PokerTrip Enterprises Inc Necessary
Although PokerTrip Enterprises is not directly involved in hosting interstate poker, the unique nature of its services necessitated the license by both the gaming control boards. A representative from the Gaming Commission said that the poker service providing companies do not need any license to market their offerings through parallel sites as they are already licensed to operate. The representative also said that since there was no rule that governed bodies like this, the company was subjected to a conditional license check that was not as comprehensive as the one conducted before handing out poker operations license.
