John Duthie Exit from European Poker Tour
January 16, 2012John Duthie declared that he has resigned as European Poker Tour’s (EPT) CEO. Duthie is a founding member of EPT. He parted ways with the well-known poker site, PokerStars.com after the completion of his contract on 31st December 2004. The EPT was founded after this and today it is considered one of the most prestigious poker events.
Duthie – EPT will be Left in Capable Hands
Duthie stated that the time has come for him to venture into new areas in poker. He will be leaving the EPT in the hands of a very capable management team. He also said that the 7 years of his association with the EPT have been enriching. Due to the immense support of players and the excellent professionalism of the EPT team, the poker tour experienced phenomenal growth.
Duthie added that 2012 will open up new opportunities for players as the US market is expected to legalize online gambling soon.
EPT Turned into a Grand Poker Event under Duthie’s Leadership
John Duthie, in association with PokerStars, turned EPT into a grand poker event. EPT is one of the key rivals of the biggest poker tours held across the world. The EPT 8th season will feature as many as 12 tournaments. EPT 8th season will be held in over 10 countries. Attendance records have been set in numerous EPT stops. According to Duthie, PokerStars owes much of its success to the EPT.
The partnership between EPT and PokerStars has always proved to be beneficial, according to Duthie. PokerStars currently is the largest poker room in the online poker industry. The dominance of the poker room in the European market for online gambling is mostly due to the success of the EPT. It also gets a lot of exposure through TV channels in Europe. Quite a few secondary international poker tours of the EPT are held. These poker tours enabled PokerStars to establish a strong hold in several markets.
Edgar Stuchly will Manage EPT
Edgar Stuchly will take on the responsibility of running the EPT. He was appointed as the President of EPT August, last year. Stuchly served as the head of poker for Casinos Austria Tour for 4 years. He was responsible for handling poker rooms of as many as 12 casinos. The Casinos Austria Poker Tour was initiated by Stuchly. He also received the honor of being titled the Poker Staff Person of the Year.
