WSOP Enters Sponsorship Deal with 888Poker

Itai PaznerBoth 888Poker and the World Series of Poker are top brands offering poker gaming in the United States as well as around the world. Both brands offer quality online gaming as well as take part in hosting land based events. It was recently announced the two brands are now working together as the WSOP has decided to enter into a contract with 888Poker for sponsorship during the 2015 WSOP season as well as the WSOP Europe.

The announcement of the new partnership comes in the form of a press release just two months before the 46th annual World Series of Poker is set to take place. According to the terms of the agreement, 888Poker will be the official site for online qualifier satellites for certain regions to be able to earn a seat to WSOP events. This will include areas such as the United States, France, Italy, India, Mexico, Quebec and British Colombia.

The sponsorship deal has a time frame of one year and will see 888Poker bringing players to the WSOP as well as World Series of Poker Europe events via satellites. These qualifiers will start with buy-ins as low as one cent which will allow players to compete at a very low price point.

Itai Pazner, the Head of B2C and the Senior Vice President of 888 Holdings, commented on the new partnership by stating:

Itai Panzer Statement

Including in the partnership is a new marketing campaign which will offer a promotion titled Double Up. With the new offering, players will be able to compete for packages to the WSOP Main Event as well as Online Bracelet Event. The packages are estimated at a $14,000 price point and would cover the buy-ins for the main event as well as the online event with expenses included for accommodations and travel.

During the World Series of Poker events in Las Vegas, the partnership between 888Poker and WSOP will extend further with 888Poker helping with live reporting of each event. This will include information involving player chip counts as well as updates to each tournament as the action unfolds.

In the past, PokerNews was behind the live reporting and did a great job offering accounts of each event so players could stay up to date on the action. The WSOP must now be in charge of this information and this may prove to be difficult for the brand. Players will be able to stay in the know of each event by visiting 888Poker or the WSOP website.

Speaking of the partnership with 888poker, the Executive Director of the WSOP, Ty Stewart, stated that 888poker has been a great partner with Caesars Interactive Entertainment for years now and the WSOP is proud of the comprehensive offering the poker brand will be offering for each player located outside the US who want to take part in flagship events. The expanded sponsorship of 888 is an important step to qualifying players in an affordable manner as well as bring additional prize money to the WSOP tournaments.

The new partnership should be beneficial for both 888Poker and the WSOP. It will be interesting to see how the two work together as the WSOP begins in the coming weeks.
