New Jersey Hits High Note with Poker Tournaments Last Sunday

New Jersey Championship of Online Poker 2015Sunday has always been a special day in the game of poker. Top online poker sites host major events each and every Sunday to give players exciting and high paying tournaments to take part in. From PokerStars to Party Poker, the best of the best offering huge guarantees so players will come back again and again to compete. Party Poker operates in the state of New Jersey with online poker gaming and is currently offering the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker. Combine the Sunday events of this series and the World Series of Poker’s Spring Poker Series, you end up with a huge and historical Sunday majors day!

Totaling each prize pool of every event, the state of New Jersey offered more than $350,000 in prize money spread out over ten major tournament events. This is the most cash that has ever been up for grabs in New Jersey since online poker has been on offer. Players were taking down tournaments left and right, with major cash prizes awarded and titles won.

As if this past weekend wasn’t enough, the NJCOP will be hosting the Main Event as well as high roller and other events this coming weekend. Players will be back at it again, taking part in major guaranteed events on Saturday and Sunday, possibly breaking the record set this past weekend!

Offering one of the largest prize pools of the day was Event #10, the $100,000 guaranteed tournament. This event saw a total of 473 players competing and it was deerpathdave who earned the first place win of just over $17,000.

There were two $50,000 guaranteed events on the NJCOP schedule taking place Sunday, starting with event #11. This tournament had a buy-in of $1,000 and paid out $12,000 to the eventual winner. It was Henrylam who earned the first place win after taking down GiantGenius in the final round of game play.

The next $50,000 guaranteed prize pool was part of Event #13 which had a buy-in of $500 and 99 players competing. The winner was bernstreg who had to defeat Steven Madara in final table play, a player who managed to earn three final table finishes during the busy weekend. Bernstreg earned a prize of $11,250 for his first place finish.

Moving on to the WSOP Spring Poker Series, there were two $40,000 guaranteed events on the schedule. The Main Event was up first with a $200 buy-in and 120 players competing. The prize pool pushed past the guarantee to provide $49,395 in prize money and led to Thrash123 earning a first place prize of $13,831. The win gave Thrash123 a ring and the title bragging rights.

The next $40,000 guaranteed event was the Sunday guaranteed which had a buy-in of $200 and had just over 200 players competing. The $40,000 guarantee was met and gave mglnow the win of $10,600. This was the second major win by mglnow this year and the last event of the weekend at WSOP.com in New Jersey.

The weekend, especially Sunday, was a great success in the state of New Jersey. Setting records and seeing awesome game play is a great way to close out the week. Players will be back in action at the WSOP and Party sites this coming weekend to take part in the usual guaranteed events as well as finish out the NJCOP II. It will be interesting to see if this weekend will top the past weekend in traffic and prize pool guarantees. If the last weekend is any indication, I see the next weekend ending with a much higher cash flow than the $350,000+ created over the weekend.
